Croeso and welcome to my blog and website, Into Annwn

I'm Jenny, an American polytheist and witch who worships Welsh deities and loves Welsh folklore.  I dedicated myself to Rhiannon in 2013, and I fell in love with Wales -- its land, people, culture, and language -- when I lived there for a year from 2015 to 2016 in a little cottage atop a hill in Bangor, Gwynedd while studying for my masters degree at Bangor University.  The Welsh-centered devotional polytheist and witchcraft path has been my spiritual home ever since.

Join me, if you will, on my journey of discovering and practicing Welsh polytheism, witchcraft, and folklore.  And it is a journey!  There is always more to learn and deeper to delve.

This work is never complete, and neither is this website.

On the blog, I...

  • explore ideas,

  • share new info & lore I've found,

  • share some of my practices (e.g. prayers I write, ways I celebrate, etc),

  • write book, event, & conference reviews,

  • share some fangirl moments for my favorite influencers & authors along my path (probably most often for Mhara Starling, Dr. Gwilym Morus-Baird, John Beckett, and Kristoffer Hughes),

  • share the occasional glimpse into my studies while learning the Welsh language & a few thoughts on linguistics (the field of my masters degree),

  • share my past and present spiritual experiences that are allowed to be shared that might be helpful to others in some way,

  • write about my thought processes and developing or changing interpretations, and

  • announce when something has been added to the rest of the website.

The rest of the website (the not-blog parts) is the ever-in-progress product of applying my research and experiences to my own understanding of deity, writing my own prayers, observing feast days, and other practices I am building.  I use this website for my own reference and am often adding to it or tweaking it as I find out, read, create, and experience more (or just as I have time to do building work on it).  I have kept it private for a long time, but now I am adding a blog and publishing it so that it is here to share with you, in case you may find some of it useful. There are several pages that I keep unpublished on this website (especially for my notes on the many gods), because they are still under construction and not yet organized enough to be published for the eyes of the public.

Like anyone, I've amalgamated a lot of information into my understanding of the bigger picture over the years, and my imperfect human memory does not always remember where I've read or heard something.  However, I try to cite sources as much as practically possible, and you can find an extensive list of the sources that I'm aware I've drawn from on the Sources page. You may also sometimes see this: (SOURCES) in my website pages. It is a reminder to myself that I need to dig up the sources to cite for what I've said. It means I've read something when studying, but can't remember where off the top of my head, and so need to go track it down!

I consider Jenny Stone (former High Priestess of the Coven of the Green Moon in Virginia, bless and rest her soul) and the members of the Cân y Gwynt OBOD grove in North Wales to be my greatest in-person teachers and mentors in specifically the Pagan context.  My thanks and gratitude to them, and the significance of their hands in where I am now and who I have become, can never truly be fully expressed.

I consider Mhara Starling (Welsh witch, here are her Patreon and Youtube channel), Dr. Gwilym Morus-Baird (Welsh scholar, here are his courses and Youtube channel), John Beckett (American OBOD Druid & ADF member, here are his courses and Patheos blog), and Kristoffer Hughes (Welsh Druid & Head of Anglesey Druid Order) to be the biggest online and via-book teachers and influences on my studies and the forging of my personal path of polytheism and witchcraft.  They work hard and passionately to share their culture and experiences with us, and I am very grateful.  I recommend all four of them first and foremost if asked for opinions on resources for a Welsh-centered practice and/or devotional polytheism.

The most important primary sources for my path are the Mabinogi, Hanes Taliesin, the Triads (Trioedd Ynys Prydein), and Welsh poetry, folklore, stories, and folk customs both historical and living.  Paganism is an experiential practice, so I also value my UPG and personal experiences with spirit and journey work.  Of course, I also incorporate (both consciously and subconsciously, I'm sure) ideas and practices and worldviews from U.S. culture because that's what I was raised in, and it's where I live, and so it's a part of who I am.  I do my best to try to embrace the good things while learning from and rejecting/discontinuing the bad things about U.S. culture -- this is an ongoing process.
